Together, let's end
corrosive violence

Corrosive violence is a growing issue in the UK. Our latest research revealed a 75% rise in corrosive attacks in 2023, compared to 2022. The real number of attacks is likely to be higher due to under-reporting. Worryingly there is an increase on the number of female victims. Prevention is key. We call on urgent action by the new Government.

End easy access. End corrosive violence.

Ending acid violence

ASTI, a UK charity, is dedicated to globally ending corrosive violence. As the sole international organisation focused on this cause, ASTI has collaborated with the United Nations, the British Government, and various foundations, implementing impactful projects in multiple countries. ASTI received an Impact Award in 2019 for its work in changing UK law.

Hamida, pictured right, was attacked by a stranger in 2007, leaving her with significant injuries. With support, she has learnt different ways to cope with the attack. She has a fresh food business and is currently learning the skills needed for sewing.

Our Focus

We want to end corrosive attacks globally. This requires multiple interventions, such as changing people's attitudes around corrosive attacks and introducing tighter controls on the availability of dangerous corrosives.

An approach backed by evidence

We take an evidence-based approach by conducting robust research.

Increasing awareness globally

As a public health issue, ending corrosive violence requires a multi-stakeholder approach to tackle wider societal factors that lead to attacks.

Restricting access to dangerous corrosives

We focus on changing laws to prevent easy access to corrosives and fair justice for survivors.
